French tyre manufacturer Michelin has introduced its first made-in-India passenger vehicle model, called the Primacy 5. The new Primacy 5 model is a premium tyre that offers segment-best performance and safety, as per the brand. It is now available across all Michelin dealerships and the official retail partners across India, starting from Rs 10,000. Customers can choose tyre sizes from 16 inches going up to 22 inches.
Michelin has also revealed that the Primacy 5 is the first of the range of models that will be subsequently launched. The upcoming models will include Pilot Sport 4 SUV, Pilot Sport 5, and LTX Trail ST, and all of these will be locally produced.
Speaking of the Primacy 5, Michelin claims that it offers an 8 percent longer lifespan than its predecessor, i.e. the Primacy 4 ST. Additionally, it has 8 metres less braking distance in wet conditions as compared to the rivals, while the worn-out tyre braking distance is 9 metres less than the competition, making it significantly better than the competition.
Moreover, these tyres offer 4 metres shorter braking distance when new, as compared to the rivals. Not just that, but Michelin also claims that these tyres can deliver up to 6.5 percent higher fuel economy than the Primacy 4 ST. This includes the ICE and EV models.
With sizes ranging from 16-22 inches, the Primacy 5 tyres will suit a majority of the models, including the top-selling SUVs like the Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Mahindra Scorpio N, and more. Meanwhile, the brand will also continue to offer the locally manufactured commercial vehicle tyres for buses and trucks.
