Hero Vida VX2: A new game changer?
Hero’s electric scooter venture in India has not been what it was anticipated to be before the launch. The Vida scooter range is not only premium, but it also offers a similar package as the rivals without a long range.
However, the two-wheeler manufacturer has not given up as it will soon introduce a new affordable Vida scooter. Scheduled to launch on July 1, the VX2 e-scooter has been teased yet again online, hinting at its utility-centric design.
The teaser image shows that the base variant of the VX2 scooter will not get a front disc brake, which means that it will be a basic scooter to cater for the price-constrained market. We believe that Hero is likely to position it below the Rs 1 lakh mark.
However, it will be offered in multiple variants, as the top-variant teaser image shows a fully loaded scooter with LED headlamp, a front disc brake, and telescopic front suspension.
Design-wise, it will not feature the radical styling like the V2, but it will get a more conventional shape so that more buyers are attracted towards it. Additionally, it will be a family-centric offering with a large footboard area, a big single seat, an aluminium pillion grab handle, and a big underseat storage.
Feature-wise, the top variant of the VX2 is likely to be offered with LED lights, a single-channel ABS, a TFT console with Bluetooth connectivity, and more.
Powering the VX2 are going to be the same battery pack options as the V2, but the range will be enhanced, while the performance figures might come down as compared to the V2.
Our verdict
The launch of the upcoming VX2 electric scooter is going to be very critical for the company. The V2 e-scooter has been lying in the showrooms with very few queries for it. Hero definitely doesn’t want that to happen with the VX2, which is why it will be positioned towards the mass segment below the Rs 1 lakh mark.
