Skoda Superb Diesel sets new Guinness World Record: Here’s how
The Superb diesel in the limelight here is the one owned personally by the 2025 European Rally Championship winner, Miko Marczyk. The white colour Superb was filled to the brim, and it was in complete stock form, apart from the lowered suspension, when it achieved the new Guinness World Record for the highest mileage ever by a diesel car.
Miko drove it with a light foot and strong heart and ensured not to cross the 80 km/h mark, while covering a total distance of 2,831 km, until the car ran out of fuel. The total mileage of the trip went up to 38 km/l, while the highest mileage was achieved in the last stretch in France, where it got 45 km/l due to the sweet tailwind.
While the rally drivers are often regarded as the most courageous, driving a car for 2,831 km without speeding or refuelling is also a task of courage, given that the Superb covered some of the best roads in Europe.
The Superb diesel is powered by a 2.0-litre, 148 bhp and 360 Nm diesel engine. It is paired to a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission globally. Skoda is rumoured to launched the new-gen Superb diesel in India soon.
