The Octavia RS has sparked strong demand in India. Skoda Auto India had limited the launch to 100 units, and all were snapped up almost immediately. Now the brand is preparing a second shipment, expected in early 2026.
Why the rush
Bookings for the performance sedan opened with a token amount, and by the time pricing was announced it was already sold out. The allotment was small, just 100 units. Despite that, Skoda recorded around 350 bookings. The brand has confirmed those existing orders will be fulfilled first before opening fresh bookings for the next batch.
What buyers are getting
The Octavia RS comes as an import (CBU) at INR 49.99 lakh ex-showroom. It uses a 2.0 litre turbo-petrol engine producing approximately 265 PS and 370 Nm of torque. That translates to a 0-100 km/h time of around 6.4 seconds, with a top speed of about 250 km/h. The car’s features and dynamics place it in a very niche performance-sedan segment.
What has changed for the second batch
While Skoda has not shared exact numbers for the second batch, the timing, early 2026 indicates a relatively short waiting period by performance-sedan standards. The brand will first honour existing bookings and then invite new orders. Given the strong demand, prospective buyers should expect waiting lists or higher booking deposits.
Sales and market impact
The Octavia RS is somewhat of a halo model for Skoda in India. The success of the first batch shows there’s appetite for performance sedans even in a market dominated by SUVs and compact cars. The additional shipment also signals that Skoda is willing to supply more units despite the economic realities of importing a high-priced CBU.
That said, with import regulations limiting numbers under the CBU route, Skoda may still keep totals modest. Buyers looking for allocation must stay alert and be ready to act fast.
