Everything to know about the JSW Motors Jetour T2 PHEV
Jetour is a popular brand in China, and it is owned by Chery, a bigger automotive giant from the land of the dragons. JSW Group has a tie-up with Chery, and hence the company has decided to bring Jetour T2 PHEV as its first product in India.
JSW Group recently announced that it will step into the automotive segment with its own brand, called JSW Motors. The brand also revealed that it will launch its first model by mid-2026. This first car will be the rebranded Jetout T2.
Speaking of the T2, it is a mid-size five-seater plug-in hybrid SUV, which is utterly popular in the UAE. Measuring 4.7 metres in length, it is substantially bigger than cars like the Tata Sierra. Jetour retails the T2 in the UAE at around Rs 35 lakh, and we expect a similar price tag for it when JSW Motors launches it in June 2026.
The T2 is based on a monocoque chassis and bears a design identical to the Land Rover Defender. While some may say that it is a copy of Defender, the T2 has its unique design bits like the quad-LED headlights, a rugged body kit, a big infotainment screen, and modern features like Level 2 ADAS.
Powering the T2 is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol plug-in hybrid engine. This engine is offered with RWD and AWD options globally, and it makes 154 bhp and 220 Nm of power and torque. However, it is yet to be confirmed which drivetrain will be offered in India.
The sweet part is its 26.7 kWh battery pack, which not only powers the SUV, but also offers a pure electric range of 139 km (NEDC cycle). The cumulative power that the T2 makes is 221 bhp and 390 Nm, which is enough to compete with cars like the Volkswagen Tiguan R Line.
More details are likely to be revealed as its debut timeline nears.
