Harman has announced that it will power the return of the Tata Sierra with a full suite of in-cabin technology. This includes a 5G-ready telematics platform, a new infotainment architecture, premium JBL audio, and a digital ecosystem built to feel modern from day one.
A Sierra that talks to the future
At the heart of the new Sierra sits Harman Ready Connect. It is a next-generation telematics control unit that is built on a modular network access device architecture. In simpler words, it is designed to shift smoothly from 4G to 5G when the time comes.
This system supports over-the-air updates, remote vehicle functions, cybersecurity, diagnostics, and cloud services. It also enables features like emergency calling, stolen vehicle tracking, and roadside assistance.
Harman has also added a smart conformal antenna. It improves signal strength and reduces cable losses. That means better connectivity in real-world conditions, not just in marketing slides.
The system is locally manufactured in Pune under the Make in India initiative. That helps Tata Motors with faster development cycles and better supply chain control.
A cabin that feels more like a lounge
The Sierra’s cabin goes heavy on screens and experiences. It gets a Horizon View Display that offers personalised content. Passengers can use speakers or headphones. Yes, you can watch your stuff without forcing your playlist on everyone else.
There is gaming support too. You can plug in a joystick for rear seat entertainment. It also supports video streaming and even video calls.
Sound is handled by a premium 12-speaker JBL system. It includes an enclosed subwoofer and a soundbar. This is a first for an Indian car. The system also supports Dolby Atmos.
Apps, updates, and a digital marketplace
The Sierra also gets the Harman Ready Link Marketplace. It is a built-in digital store for Android apps and third-party content.
This allows Tata to control the user experience while still offering a wide app ecosystem. It also opens the door for future services and updates without needing hardware changes.
