Lexus has introduced its first electric car in India, the new-gen ES 500e. The ES 500e is the eighth-generation ES model, which has now turned completely electric. Read everything about it below.

Lexus ES 500e: Everything to know before buying
ES 500e price and availability
The latest ES or Executive Sedan, as Lexus likes to call it, has landed in India. It is the 8th-gen model, and it is priced at Rs 89.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The new-gen ES 500e is available across India with its pre-bookings now open, and the deliveries are expected to start in the coming weeks.
ES 500e design, dimensions, and platform
The new ES 500e EV is based on the TNGA-K platform, which is shared with the new-gen Toyota Camry that is on sale in the international market. With that said, the new ES 500e measures as follows:
- Length – 5,145 mm
- Width – 1,920 mm
- Height – 1,575 mm
- Wheelbase – 2,950 mm
- Ground clearance – 158 mm
On the outside, it boasts a futuristic and sleek design. The front fascia now gets a protruding vertical nose with a closed grille and the twin-L-shaped LED headlights with DRLs. The front bumper gets large air dams for improved air flow, while the overall outlook resembles the LF-ZC concept closely.
The side profile features a sloping roof line and diagonal air vents on the front doors. Moreover, the car features 19-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels and retractable door handles.
The rear design features a ducktail boot with an integrated spoiler and sleek L-shaped LED lights with a connected lightbar and an illuminated Lexus lettering in between.
ES 500e interior and features
Contrary to the exterior, the interior layout of the new-gen ES 500e features a minimalist design language. The dashboard boasts a step-like design that features a floating 14-inch infotainment screen, which controls all the comfort and entertainment features of the car.
Moreover, a massive 12.3-inch digital instrument display features an immersive UI and offers features like 3D navigation and more. The all-new three-spoke steering wheel uses touch-capacitive controls, and so does the centre console of the car. Lexus has nearly eliminated all the physical button controls from the new ES.
In terms of features, it is loaded with equipment like electrochromic glass roof, ambient lighting, dual-zone auto climate control, powered seats with memory and ventilation features, electric Boss Mode for rear passengers, e-parking brake, drive and regen modes, and more. It also gets reclining rear seats with electric adjustability and rear air-conditioning vents.
The safety features include 10 airbags, e-parking brake, all-four disc brakes, and Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 ADAS features like adaptive cruise control, 360-degree surround view monitoring, lane-keep assist, rear-cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, high-beam assist, traffic sign recognition, and more.
ES 500e battery specs and range
Powering the ES 500e is a 74.69 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and a dual electric motor setup that offers 343 bhp of peak power output. The claimed range achieved via this setup is 580 km. It also supports DC charging of up to 150 kW, which can juice it 10-80% in 28 minutes.
Lexus will also launch the ICE variant of the new-gen ES with the 2.5-litre hybrid engine, which will offer mileage of more than 23 km/l.
The new ES 500e bookings are now open across India, and the deliveries are expected to begin soon.
