Battery specs, range, performance
The all-new EQS has been unveiled in the global market. The new model gets substantial upgrades, which include a new 800V architecture. The new platform also houses a bigger 122 kWh battery (in select variants), which offers up to 926 km of range.
Mercedes claims that the new architecture allows the battery to get charged by up to 350 kW of DC chargers. With the improved DC charging, it can add 320 km of range in just 10 minutes.
The new EQS also gets the new electric drive units and a new two-speed gearbox on the rear axle. These new additions have improved the low-speed performance and battery efficiency.
The battery regen has also increased by up to 385 kW, which allows a quick battery top-up during braking. Depending on the variant, the new EQS offers 362-577 bhp of peak power. It has an electronically-limited top speed of 210 km/h.
Steer-by-wire and other new features
Another big upgrade on the 2026 EQS sedan is the introduction of the steer-by-wire technology.
This tech comes from Formula 1 racing, where the steering is not directly linked with the front wheels, but it sends signals to the electronic control units that perform further action. This reduces the steering movement and increases the precision, especially at the higher speeds.
Moreover, Mercedes is also offering a Yoke-like optional steering wheel for an exclusive driving feel.
On the inside, the 55-inch Hyperscreen now features the latest MB.OS software update that comes with OTA support and new AI-assistant features like virtual commands in conversational tones, and more. The rear passengers get the individual 13.1-inch infotainment screens as well.
Exterior design refreshed
On the outside, the new EQS now features a refreshed front fascia with a new grille, new LED headlights, an upright stance, and new alloy wheels. On the inside, the updated EQS features the new themes.
India launch details
The new EQS is likely to be launched in India in late 2026. The current model is priced at Rs 1.30 crore (ex-showroom), and the updated EQS is likely to be positioned above it.
