What to expect from the upcoming Kia Sorento?
The latest spy shots of a Kia Sorento test car show that the road testing phase of the upcoming SUV is ongoing in full swing. Kia has confirmed that it will expand its portfolio in India with the Sorento Hybrid SUV till 2030.
The Sorento is sold internationally, and it is a popular SUV model. It boasts the latest design language of the brand, which includes the T-shaped LED headlights, a tiger-fascia, chiselled body panels, and twin-LED taillights.
The Sorento is a three-row SUV, and it is likely to be positioned against the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, and the new Skoda Kodiaq in India. On the inside, the global-spec Sorento comes with features of a premium cabin with leather upholstery, a connected triple screen display with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, and flexible seats with a bench on the second and third rows.
Sorento is powered by multiple engine options in the global market. These include a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre petrol, a 2.5-litre turbo petrol, a 1.6-litre turbo petrol hybrid, and a plug-in hybrid 1.6-litre turbo petrol.
The Indian market is most likely to receive the 1.6-litre turbo HEV or hybrid version, which is paired with an AWD and a 6-speed AT gearbox. It delivers 212 bhp and 366 Nm, offering a top speed of up to 196 km/h, and a claimed fuel economy of up to 19.6 km/l.
Kia will launch the Sorento in India by 2030, and we believe that it will get a different design, since it will already be aged in the global market, hence needing an update, which the new model will bring along. It could be priced around Rs 35-40 lakh.
