Is it the Mahindra XUV 7XO Hybrid?
While there is no solid proof whether this test car is a hybrid engine-equipped or a flex fuel equipped, we can certainly say that Mahindra has more to offer, and the road testing phase means that the new technology is nearing its final stage.
Mahindra has already committed to introducing the new hybrid and flex fuel engines for its various models, including the XUV 3XO and the 7XO. Moreover, the rising fuel prices and the paradigm shift of the government policies for green fuel and efficient vehicles will further make the hybrid engines more relevant for the Mahindra cars.
Mind you, Mahindra’s majority sales are derived from the diesel engine cars. However, the future of diesel fuel is under a foggy blanket. Therefore, developing efficient, powerful, and greener engine options will become a mandate for the carmaker to keep the wheel spinning.
On the other hand, hybrid cars like the Toyota Innova Hycross and the Urban Cruiser Hyryder have proven that the Indian market is rapidly evolving and shifting towards NEVs or new energy vehicles. Therefore, Mahindra following this path is most likely, and it will happen sooner than we think.
