Citroen Basalt exports commenced – Here’s why it is important

Car exports have been a major source of earnings for the car manufacturers based in India. The relatively low production costs lead to higher benefits; most carmakers export from India.

Joining this league of export models is the new Basalt coupe-SUV. It has become the third model to be exported from India to the international market. Citroen has dispatched the first batch of export of the Basalt to the South African market.

Speaking of the other models, Citroen already exports the C3, C3 Aircross, and eC3 hatchbacks to the ASEAN markets, which will now be accompanied by the Basalt. The company has also revealed that it has exported 10,000 cars made-in-India cars to the global market.

While the Basalt SUV packs a lot of value-for-money, its sales in India has been sluggish ever since it was launched. A major factor behind it is the absence of marketing and less dealerships and service centres than expected.
