The upcoming Hyundai model seen testing here is likely to be based on the Hyundai Bayon crossover. The latter is sold internationally, and it is popular for its spacious cabin comfort and crossover styling.

Hyundai will position it alongside the Creta. The main objective is to garner more sales like Maruti Suzuki is doing with the Fronx. The test car has a low-slung design that suits its crossover styling. It won’t be a conventional three-box SUV, but it will be more of a style statement.

While the Hyundai engineers have completely covered the test car, visible details include the wide mirrors, functional roof rails, dual-tone alloy wheels, and LED taillights positioned on the lower half of the rear.

Since the interior experience will be more in focus with this crossover, Hyundai is likely to debut its new-gen Pleos infotainment system. The latter made its global debut recently on the Ioniq 3, and it is set to replace the conventional driver console system by moving the majority of the controls and information to the screen.

Hyundai has already confirmed that this new SUV will be powered by a naturally aspirated petrol engine. It is also likely to pack a CNG powertrain, which could possibly be based on a dual-cylinder technology, something that is already popular on the Tata CNG cars. The possibility of a hybrid powertrain in the future can not be denied as well.

Speaking of its launch timeline, Hyundai is targeting to debut it in the Indian market by the end of 2027. Meanwhile, it could be priced somewhere around Rs 9-12 lakh, thus it will be cut the select trims of Creta and i20 by offering a distinctive styling. More details about it are likely to get revealed in the coming months.
