Hero Splendor+ Flex Fuel: Everything you should know
The new Splendor+ Flex Fuel is based on the regular model, but the main changes that it packs are under its fuel tank. Hero MotoCorp engineers have made up to 36 changes to the standard bike to make it E85-compliant.
First, what is E85 fuel? A litre of fuel that contains 85% ethanol and 15% petrol blend is termed E85. Second, why has the Spelndor+ received the E85 engine? It is because the Indian government is rapidly moving towards green mobility, and a major shift to achieve this target is being made by mixing ethanol with petrol.
So, what has been changed on the Splendor+ Flex Fuel? Hero has revealed that it has completely transformed the fuel system, fuel tank, fuel pump, ECU remap, and internal components of the engine to support fuel types from E30 to E85. This means that this bike is future-ready to tackle the next big shift coming in ethanol-mixed petrol.
Apart from these changes, it continues to feature a 97.2cc single-cylinder motor. However, if you use E85 fuel, it makes 8.4 bhp and 8.3 Nm. These figures are nearly 0.5 bhp and 0.25 Nm higher than the E20 Splendor+.
The Flex Fuel Splendor+ is now available in India at Rs 82,810 (ex-showroom), and it features new graphics and a new instrument cluster design. The rest of the bike is similar to the E20 model.
