Mahindra Vision S spotted testing, new design details revealed

Key highlights

  • Mahindra Vision S test car spotted in Maharashtra
  • It gets a massive road presence, five-spoke alloys, oval headlamps
  • It will be launched next year in India

Mahindra’s upcoming Vision S (codenamed) SUV was once again spotted in Maharashtra. This upcoming mid-size SUV will form a new niche with its launch, which is expected to take place early next year.

As visible in the spy shot, the overall profile of the SUV is very similar to a mini version of the Defender. The front features the oval LED headlamps, which look similar to the ones used on the Mahindra Thar Roxx. Meanwhile, the new vertically-slated front grille, a rugged bumper, flared wheel arches, a raked front windshield, and protruding mirrors give it a premium 4X4 look.

The side profile is dominated by the muscular bodyline, rugged body cladding, new five-spoke alloy wheels, and muscular rear fender haunches. Although the rear profile was not captured in these latest spy shots, we have previously seen that it will get a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, vertical LED lights, and a rugged rear bumper design with footsteps.

On the inside, the production-spec Vision S will offer a vertical dashboard design with a big infotainment screen positioned in the centre, and a digital instrument cluster (on top-spec), a new three-spoke steering wheel, and a five-seater layout. Mahindra will also offer modern features like the dual-pane panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, driving and terrain modes, ADAS safety, and more.

Powering the production-spec Vision S are likely to be the 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine and a 1.2-litre TGDi turbo petrol engine, both mated to the choices of a manual and an automatic gearbox. However, the Vision S is based on the NU_IQ platform, which also supports a pure electric powertrain. Hence, an electric version of the Vision S is also expected to arrive in the future.

The new Vision S SUV will be positioned between the Bolero Neo and the Scorpio N. It will compete with the upcoming Renault Bridger, which is also set to be launched in India in 2027. The Vision S is expected to be priced around Rs 9-18 lakh.
