Key highlights
- Maruti Suzuki Ignis recalled
- Rear parking sensor controller unit reported a glitch
- Free of cost part change is being offered
While the Maruti Ignis hatchback was discontinued a while ago, the brand is known to take care of its customers well, and hence a latest recall has been issued for the Ignis due to a faulty rear parking sensor controller unit. The recall, while not official, was reported in a dealership document, where the report stated that the controller unit can develop a glitch and the rear parking alarm is found to be kaput in the selected models.
Meanwhile, the exact number of cars affected by this recall, and their manufacturing date details, have not been revealed yet. We suspect that Maruti will initiate a silent recall by connecting with the owners. The solution that Maruti Suzuki has stated in the report is a free of cost part replacement for every affected unit.
The Ignis was first introduced in India in 2017. The first model came equipped with the 1.2-litre K12B petrol engine and the 1.3-litre DDIS turbo diesel engine. However, it received its first major facelift in 2020, and Maruti eventually dropped the diesel in India. Going forward, Maruti pulled the plug on the Ignis this year due to its lifecycle end.
