- Hyundai Bayon-based SUV spied again
- Spotted alongside Maruti Victoris
- It is likely to be introduced next year
Hyundai’s upcoming project for the Indian market is a new crossover SUV that will be based on the global-spec Bayon. It is internally codenamed Bc4i, and two test mules of it were recently spotted together alongside a Maruti Victoris, giving us a real-world comparison of its size.
What to expect from the Hyundai Bayon-based SUV?
The spy shot shows that the test car has a low-slung design as compared to the Victoris. While both cars have no comparison as both belong to different segments, the photo shows that this unnamed Hyundai car will be a spacious offering.
The overall design silhouette looks identical to the global Bayon, but the new highlights include the sharp LED taillights, new dual-tone alloys, and an upswept rear window design that merges into a rear quarter panel that looks identical to the 2027 Hyundai i20 that was recently unveiled in Brazil.
While Hyundai engineers have perfectly camouflaged it, the front looks like to have an aggressive design with modern bits like the connected LED headlights, a sharp bumper, and sharp creases on the bonnet.
Currently, we have no clue about what the interiors of this car will look like. But we can safely assume that it will get a spacious cabin and modern design bits that were introduced on the new-gen i20. These are likely to include the Ioniq-sourced three-spoke steering wheel, a new digital console, and a Pleos infotainment screen.
Powering this crossover SUV are likely to be the 1.0-litre turbo TGDI petrol engine (on top variants) and a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor (on the base variants). A diesel engine is also expected to be offered, but we will gain more clarity about the powertrain going forward.
Hyundai will most likely position the Bc4i Bayon-based SUV between the Venue and the Creta. It will be a substitute of the Venue with more luxury and features. We can think of it as the Kia Syros, which tried to shorten the gap between the Sonet and Seltos.
The exact launch timeline of this SUV is not known, but a wide assumption is that it will be revealed by early next year.
