- Rear design of the Nissan Tekton leaked
- Tekton is scheduled to debut in India on July 9
- It will be based on the new-gen Renault Duster
Nissan India’s next big bet is the upcoming Tekton mid-size SUV that will share its underpinnings with the Renault Duster. While Nissan has scheduled the official debut of the Tekton in India for July 9, its rear design got leaked online after being spied during the official TVC shoot.
Since the Tekton will share a lot of parts with the Renault Duster, Nissan has tried to keep its design more elegant. Nissan is already marketing it as the “Baby Patrol”, and the resemblance of the Patrol SUV is visible through the rear profile.
What does the Nissan Tekton rear design look like?
The spotted car boasts a raked rear windshield with a roof-integrated spoiler, C-shaped LED taillights that are connected by an LED lightbar, and a streamlined rear bumper with silver garnishing, which looks identical to the Patrol SUV to some extent.
While the LED light setup and the boot design are identical to the Renault Duster, Nissan has given the Tekton a distinctive appeal by redesigning its rear bumper. Additionally, the tailgate has Tekton lettering to distinguish it from the Renault counterpart.
Nissan has already revealed the front design of the Tekton. It gets a set of new LED headlights that are connected by an LED light band, a black grille with a red highlight that copies the Nissan Patrol SUV, and a new front bumper with silver highlights.
Dimensionally, it will be identical to the Duster. On the inside, the Tekton is supposed to feature a new cabin theme and Nissan badging. Features will be carried forward from the Duster as it is.
Similarly, the engine specs will also be the same as those of the Duster. While the lower-spec variants will get the 1.0-litre turbo petrol, the higher-spec variants will get the 1.3-litre turbo petrol. Both engines will be paired with a manual and an automatic gearbox option. Nissan is also likely to introduce a 1.8-litre hybrid engine in the future.
The new Tekton will be launched on July 9 in India. We expect it to be priced in a similar ballpark as the Renault Duster.
