- Offers a 5-seater configuration and fewer features
Volkswagen has introduced a new, more affordable variant of the Tayron SUV. The new version is called “Tayron Life”, and it is Rs 5 lakh cheaper than the Tayron R-Line due to fewer features and its five-seater cabin layout.
Volkswagen Tayron Life: Everything to know
On the visual front, the Tayron Life looks mostly similar to the R-Line. However, the notable difference is the new 18-inch “Bologna” alloy wheels that replace the 19-inch rims of the R-Line. The reduced rim size has increased the sidewall height of the tyre, which we believe will improve the ride comfort substantially.
Other key exterior design details remain similar to the R-Line. The Life variant gets the connected LED lights, projector puddle lights, illuminated Volkswagen logos on both ends, and seven exterior colour options.
Step inside and you will come across the biggest change. The Life variant offers a five-seater configuration, instead of the seven seats on the R-Line. This has freed up a lot of boot space, which now measures 885 litres, and it can be expanded up to 2,090 litres by folding the second row seats.
The rest of the cabin design on the Tayron Life variant is similar to the R-Line. It gets the dual-tone cabin theme with leather upholstery and features like a floating 12.9-inch infotainment screen that offers wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.24-inch digital driver console, wireless phone charging pad with ventilation, electronic parking brake button, leather-wrapped steering wheel, front seats with power adjustment and ventilation and heating, Smart Entry mode and thigh support, and reclining second row seats with sliding function.
Powering the Tayron Life is the same 2.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine as the R-Line variant. This engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and the 4MOTION all-wheel drive configuration.
The Tayron Life variant makes sense for buyers who prefer the driving dynamics, performance, and looks of the Tayron over the rivals like the Skoda Kodiaq and Toyota Fortuner, but they do not want to spend a higher amount on the seven-seater R-Line.
