In a massive event unveiling 10 new upcoming two-wheelers for the Indian market, Honda has also revealed a new adventure dual-sport motorcycle called XR 300 Rally. It is based on Honda’s globally acclaimed dual-sport bike, the XR 300L, and it will be launched in India soon, as the brand confirmed.
Honda XR 300 Rally: Everything to know about it
The XR 300 Rally is a dual-sport bike that has been designed for all-purpose use, including touring, off-roading, trail riding, and more. Since it is based on the XR 300L, a major portion of its hardware and design is similar to that of the XR 300L. However, to make it rally-ready, Honda has added a new headlight cowl, a taller windscreen, knuckle guards, a new split LED vertical headlamp, etc.
The displayed motorcycle also had the Honda HRC colour inspired by its motorsports models. Honda did not reveal the exact specs of the bike, but we know that it will be powered by the 293.5cc single-cylinder oil-cooled engine that makes 26.9 bhp and 26.6 Nm of power and torque. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch.
The displayed model also had a TFT console with Bluetooth connectivity and the Honda Road Sync App that offers integrated navigation, sms and call alerts, and music support to the rider. It also features traction control, a hazard warning light switch, and a dual-channel ABS with a switchable rear ABS. In terms of the hardware, it features a 21/18-inch spoked rim setup with all-purpose tyres, a long-travel telescopic front suspension, a gas-charged Pro link rear monoshock suspension, and an upswept exhaust.
Considering its engine specifications, size, and hardware, we suspect that Honda will localise it and position it against the TVS RTX 300. With that said, the XR 300 Rally could be launched around Rs 2.5-2.7 lakh later this year.
