Studds Raider Youth launched at Rs 1,175, gets full-face protection

Key highlights

  • Studds Raider Youth is a new full-face helmet for young riders and petite adults
  • Available in XXS and XS sizes with 12 colour options
  • Prices start at Rs 1,175 and the helmet is ISI certified

Finding a properly fitting full-face helmet can be difficult if you have a smaller head. The problem is even bigger for children and teenagers, where most options tend to be open-face helmets.

Studds is now trying to fill that gap with the Raider Youth, a new full-face helmet designed specifically for young riders, as well as adults with smaller head sizes. The helmet is available in two sizes; XXS (520mm) and XS (540mm) and prices start at Rs 1,175 (MRP, including taxes).

Full-face protection in a smaller package

The biggest difference here is the full chin bar. Most youth helmets in India have traditionally been open-face designs, leaving the chin and lower face exposed during a fall.

The Raider Youth gets a full-face shell instead, while Studds says the design has been inspired by its adult full-face helmets. It also gets a high-impact ABS outer shell and regulated-density EPS liner and is ISI (BIS) certified.

The helmet gets a Dynamic Ventilation System with top air vents, along with a microfibre liner for comfort. There is also a quick-release visor with a scratch-resistant coating and a quick-release chin strap.

12 colours to choose from

The Raider Youth’s first version is available in 12 Unicolor options, including White, Black, Cherry Red, Flame Blue, Lavender Pink, Pastel Green, Petrol Blue, Dark Pink, Chameleon Pink, Chameleon Blue, Matt Black and Military Green. Some versions get matte finishes, while the chameleon colours change shade depending on the light.

The helmet is currently available through authorised Studds dealerships, exclusive outlets and the company’s online store. Decal versions are expected to follow later.

At Rs 1,175, the Raider Youth isn’t trying to be an expensive premium helmet. Instead, it tackles a rather simple problem: smaller riders need proper protection too. And giving them a full-face option at this price can only be a good thing.
