Hero MotoCorp’s electric two-wheeler brand Vida has crossed a rather important milestone in India. The company has sold more than 3 lakh electric scooters since it began retail operations in November 2022.
According to the latest Vahan data, Vida’s cumulative retail sales stood at 3,00,458 units as of August 1, 2026. The more interesting part is how quickly the brand got there.
Vida took around 33 months to sell its first 1 lakh scooters. The next lakh came in a little over seven months. The jump from 2 lakh to 3 lakh, however, took just five months.
July was Vida’s best month yet
Vida’s recent growth has also been visible in its monthly numbers. The brand registered 22,883 units in July 2026, beating its previous best of 21,893 units recorded in June.
As a result, Vida now commands around 11 percent of India’s electric two-wheeler market in 2026 year-to-date. It currently sits fourth behind TVS, Bajaj and Ather, while staying ahead of Ola Electric and Greaves Electric Mobility.
If this pace continues, Hero MotoCorp could cross 2 lakh Vida sales in a single calendar year for the first time in 2026. Current estimates suggest the brand could finish the year somewhere around 2.25 lakh to 2.35 lakh units.
BaaS is playing a big role
One of Vida’s biggest sales drivers has been its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) ownership model. The idea is simple, separating the battery cost from the vehicle helps reduce the initial purchase price and makes the scooter easier to access.
Vida has also been steadily expanding its footprint. The brand now has over 900 touchpoints across 415 cities and more than 700 dealers. Customers can access charging at over 5,900 locations, including the Ather Grid network.
Hero isn’t stopping there. The company has already increased Vida’s manufacturing capacity from 15,000 to 25,000 units per month, and plans to double it again to 50,000 units per month at its Chittoor plant in Andhra Pradesh.
