Key highlights
- Ather Konarc will debut on August 29 at Community Day 2026
- Based on Ather’s EL platform with a steel unibody construction
- Will be offered in High Range and Low Range versions
Ather Energy is going to the launch a new electric scooter based on the EL platform. The scooter has got a name and is called the Konarc. The new model will make its global debut on August 29 at Ather Community Day 2026.
The Konarc is not an entirely new idea, though. It is based on Ather’s EL platform, which was previewed last year through the EL01 concept. The production scooter will feature a full steel unibody construction, suggesting that Ather is taking a different approach with this model compared to its existing scooters.
More importantly, the Konarc is expected to sit lower in Ather’s range and target a much wider audience.
Smaller price, wider audience
Ather is positioning the Konarc as a more affordable electric scooter. The company is expected to offer it in two versions, High Range and Low Range.
That could help Ather reach buyers who may have found its existing scooters a little too expensive. The exact battery sizes, range figures and pricing, however, have not been revealed yet.
The EL platform itself can accommodate battery packs ranging from 2kWh to 5kWh. Whether the Konarc will use the full range of battery options remains to be seen.
Different wheel sizes
The Konarc will also get a slightly unusual wheel combination. It will run on a 14-inch alloy wheel at the front and a 12-inch alloy wheel at the rear.
The electric motor will be mounted on the swingarm, while suspension duties will be handled by a telescopic fork at the front and a single shock absorber at the rear.
The combination of a steel unibody structure and swingarm-mounted motor suggests that Ather is looking beyond its current formula with the Konarc. But the company is keeping the more important details under wraps for now.
There is still no word on the scooter’s power output, battery capacity, claimed range, charging time or price. Those details are likely to emerge closer to the launch. We will know exactly what Ather has cooked up on August 29.
