One of the biggest questions around buying an electric car isn’t always about range or charging. It is what happens when you want to sell it a few years later. Hyundai is now trying to take some of that uncertainty out of the equation with its new Assured Buyback Program for the Creta Electric.
Hyundai is offering an assured buyback value of 60% for up to three years or 45,000 km, whichever comes first. The programme is aimed at addressing concerns around the future resale value of EVs, which continues to be an important factor for buyers considering the switch to electric mobility.
Two battery options and up to 510 km range
The Creta Electric is available with 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery packs. The Standard Range version has an ARAI-certified range of 420 km, while the Long Range version can travel up to 510 km on a single charge.
The SUV also supports DC fast charging, with Hyundai claiming that the battery can go from 10% to 80% in 39 minutes.
The Long Range Creta Electric can sprint from 0-100 kmph in 7.9 seconds. The SUV also gets Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, Digital Key and Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 ADAS.
Hyundai is building an EV ecosystem
The buyback scheme is not the only ownership initiative Hyundai is pushing. The company recently introduced its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model for the Creta Electric, with prices starting at Rs 10.99 lakh and battery usage costs starting at Rs 3.9 per kilometre.
Hyundai also says its myHyundai app can help EV owners find and access more than 30,000 charging points across India. Its own network currently includes 183 DC fast-charging stations across 105 cities, with plans to take that number to 600 stations by 2030.
With the Creta Electric’s range, charging support, BaaS option and now an assured future value, the company is trying to tackle some of the biggest concerns buyers have before making the switch.
