Ducati recently homologated the design of the new Monster naked sportsbike in India. The Italian premium bike manufacturer has now announced the launch date of the updated Monster V2, which is set to debut on August 10.
Ducati Monster V2: Everything to know before buying it
The new Monster V2 will offer a serious change from the current model. It will not be just another mild update; rather, it will offer a new monocoque chassis, a new oval LED headlight with sharp daytime running lights, and the return of the iconic sculpted fuel tank design resembling the original first-gen Monster model.
Additionally, it will feature a new 890cc V-twin liquid-cooled engine from the Streetfighter V2 and the Panigale V2, which will replace the current 937cc L-twin engine. This new engine might be downsized on paper, but it makes the same power output as the current engine. However, the peak torque is 2 Nm lower than that, and it also comes later in the power band.
The new updated 890cc engine on the Monster V2 will offer 111 bhp and 91.1 Nm. It will be paired with a six-speed gearbox with slipper clutch and quickshifter. The downsizing will also reduce its weight by 4 kg.
In terms of equipment, the new Monster V2 will continue featuring the golden USD forks at the front, an adjustable monoshock suspension at the rear, 17-inch alloy wheels, Brembo brake calipers, ride and traction modes, a six-axis IMU featuring cruise control and lean-sensitive ABS, Bluetooth connectivity with music and navigation support, and more.
Ducati is likely to offer the Monster in the red and black paint schemes. However, it can receive a limited-run yellow colour option in the future. The current Monster is priced at Rs 13.84 lakh, and we suspect that the new V2 version will also be priced similarly.
