- 2026 Mahindra Thar facelift launch next week
- Likely to be revealed on August 15
- To feature mild cosmetic tweaks and new features
According to industry rumours, the updated Mahindra Thar facelift will be revealed in India next week at the company’s Annual Independence Day event. The Thar facelift will be the first update for the 4×4 SUV ever since its launch in August 2020.
As far as the updates and changes are concerned, we have already seen enough spy shots and test cars revolving around the internet. All of these spy images showcased test mules with camouflaged front fascia, alloys, and taillights.
We firmly believe that the cosmetic updates will include a set of new Thar Roxx-inspired oval LED headlights, a new front grille with vertical slat design, a new front bumper with new LED foglights, new 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, new LED taillights, and a new rear bumper. The rest of the SUV will remain unaltered in terms of size and appearance.
The interior experience will be changed even further. The earlier spy shots have revealed that the Thar 3-Door facelift will get a big 12.3-inch floating infotainment screen like the Thar Roxx, a new 10.25-inch digital instrument console, new leather upholstery, redesigned seats, and probably new wireless features including 65W fast charging USB ports, a wireless charging pad, etc.
While the brand’s focus will not be on luxury, these updates will certainly make buyers feel buying a premium SUV. Moreover, the Scorpio N recently got a facelift, which brings with it a 540-degree surround view camera, which we expect to feature on the Thar facelift too.
Since it will be a mid-life update, the new Thar will remain mechanically unchanged. It will continue to be offered with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol and a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine option. There will be choices of a 6-speed MT and AT gearbox options, and 2WD and 4X4 drivetrain configurations as well.
