Chery iCAUR 03 electric SUV spotted in India, could rival Tata Harrier EV

Key highlights

  • Chery iCAUR 03 spotted undisguised while being transported on a flatbed
  • Dual-motor AWD setup makes 275 hp and 385 Nm
  • 69.8 kWh battery offers a claimed 418 km NEDC range

The Chery iCAUR 03 has been spotted in India, adding another interesting electric SUV to Chery’s growing portfolio of models being evaluated for the Indian market. The SUV was seen being transported on a flatbed without any camouflage. However, its presence does not confirm an India launch yet.

Design and dimensions

The iCAUR 03 is a five-seater electric SUV with a distinctly boxy design. Its upright front end gets L-shaped LED headlamps connected by a black strip, while the flat roof, blacked-out pillars, flush-fitting door handles and extensive black cladding give it a rugged appearance.

Internationally, the iCAUR 03 measures 4,406 mm long, 1,910 mm wide and 1,715 mm tall, with a 2,715 mm wheelbase. It also gets 195 mm of ground clearance, making it slightly more compact than some of the larger electric SUVs currently sold in India.

Expected features

The cabin is considerably more modern than the exterior suggests. International versions get a 15.6-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, a 12-speaker audio system and a 360-degree camera. Other versions also offer features such as Level 2 ADAS.

Powertrain

Power comes from a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup. The front motor produces 94 hp and 165 Nm, while the rear motor develops 181 hp and 220 Nm. Combined output stands at 275 hp and 385 Nm. A 69.8 kWh LFP battery supplies the energy, with a claimed 418 km NEDC range. DC charging is rated at up to 80 kW.

The iCAUR 03 is another Chery product that could potentially make its way to India through JSW Motors, which already has plans to bring several Chery-derived models to the country. However, there is no official confirmation of the 03’s India launch or positioning yet.
