Mahindra has launched the Thar OG, the latest generation of its three-door lifestyle SUV, at an introductory price of Rs 10.32 lakh, ex-showroom. The new Thar succeeds the three-door model introduced in 2020 and brings significant changes to its chassis, suspension, powertrains and equipment.
What’s new?
The Thar OG is built on Mahindra’s new M_Glyde 4G platform, which is claimed to offer increased structural stiffness. It gets a new rear Pentalink suspension with Watts Link, along with DAVINCI damping technology and Frequency Dependent Damping (FDD). Mahindra says these changes are aimed at improving ride quality, stability and handling both on and off the road.
Another major addition is an Electronic Locking Differential (ELD) on four-wheel-drive variants. The SUV also gets dedicated Mud, Sand and Snow terrain modes, while electric power steering is claimed to make low-speed manoeuvring easier.
The engine line-up includes three options. The 2.0-litre G20 TGDi mStallion petrol now produces 162 PS and 330 Nm, while the 2.2-litre D22 mHawk diesel develops 162 PS and 330 Nm. The 1.5-litre D117 CRDe diesel continues with 119 PS and 300 Nm. Both manual and automatic transmissions are offered depending on the engine and variant.

Design changes
Visually, the Thar retains its familiar boxy silhouette but gets a new grille, circular LED headlamps with C-shaped DRLs, LED fog lamps and new R19 alloy wheels. Two new exterior colours, Artemis Silver and Jeans Blue, join six existing shades.
Inside, higher variants get Truffle Brown leatherette seats, a soft second-row armrest with cupholders, a 26.03 cm touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging and a rear-view camera.
Safety equipment includes six airbags, including four HPTS airbags, all-disc brakes, front parking sensors and ESP with rollover mitigation.
Deliveries of the Thar OG will begin from October 11, 2026.
