BMW unveiled the M Neue Klasse concept a few months ago. The new M3 electric prototype looks close to the M Neue Klasse concept, as it has a wide and low-slung footprint.

A close look at the released images reveal the iconic kidney grille with illuminated bezel and the sharp LED headlights with angular dual LED daytime running lights positioned. The electric sports car also gets wide rear haunches and flared wheel arches with M-spec alloy wheels.

The rear is also similar to the M Neue Klasse concept. The prototype is packed with an upright boot that features an integrated spoiler (active aerodynamics, as we believe), a sporty rear bumper with splitters, and new LED taillights with an angular design.

While the interior details have not been released yet, we firmly believe that the M3 electric will carry forward a lot of design elements from the M Neue Klasse concept. These are likely to include the BMW Panoramic screen, a new four-spoke steering wheel, a large diagonal central infotainment screen, touch-sensitive controls, and M-spec elements carved out from recycled materials.

The major draw will be the powertrain. BMW has used an 800V architecture for the M3 electric, and it will feature a new battery with cylindrical cells. We believe that the size of the battery will be upwards of 100 kWh. The M3 EV will use a quad-motor setup, and the peak power output will be ‘astonishing’ as per the brand.

The M3 electric is expected to mark its debut later this year. However, it won’t be anytime before the first quarter of 2027 that it will hit the production line in Munich.
