BMW India is getting ready to update its flagship sedan lineup. The facelifted BMW 7 Series and BMW i7 will be launched in India on September 11, 2026, bringing a significantly revised design and a host of new-generation technologies to BMW’s luxury sedan. BMW India has already opened pre-launch bookings for the new 7 Series range.

A much bolder 7 Series

The facelifted 7 Series gets a completely reworked front end with a more upright and monolithic appearance. The split lighting arrangement remains, but the design has been sharpened considerably, while the kidney grille gets a new illuminated treatment.

The headlights can also be specified with crystal elements, while the bonnet and front bumper have been redesigned to give the flagship a wider, more imposing stance. At the rear, BMW has also redesigned the tail-lamps and bumper. There are new wheel designs as well, including the option of 22-inch wheels for the first time on the 7 Series.

New cabin

The interior is where the new 7 Series takes a much bigger step forward. BMW’s new Panoramic iDrive system is central to the redesigned cabin. It uses BMW Panoramic Vision to project information across the lower portion of the windscreen, while the dashboard gets a new central display.

The updated car also introduces a BMW Passenger Screen, allowing the front passenger to interact with their own display. The rear-seat experience remains a major part of the 7 Series package. The familiar 31.3-inch 8K BMW Theatre Screen has been upgraded and now supports Dolby Atmos and video conferencing.

i7 gets more range

The electric BMW i7 gets an important mechanical update as well. The new-generation battery uses Gen6 cylindrical cells, increasing the usable battery capacity to as much as 112.5kWh. Internationally, the i7 can deliver more than 720 km of WLTP range, depending on the version.

DC charging capability has also increased to 250 kW, allowing the battery to charge from 10 to 80 percent in around 28 minutes under suitable conditions.

Internationally, the updated i7 range includes the i7 50 xDrive, i7 60 xDrive and i7 M70 xDrive. The latter continues to be the performance flagship, producing 680hp and 1,015Nm, with a claimed 0-100kph time of 3.8 seconds.

The exact India-spec powertrain lineup and specifications will be confirmed at the launch.
