Key highlights
- Hyundai Motor India will increase vehicle prices by up to 1% from September 2026
- The hike will apply across its portfolio
- Exact increase will vary depending on the model and variant
Hyundai Motor India is set to increase the prices of its vehicles by up to 1% from September 2026. The company has informed the stock exchanges that the price revision will be applicable across its portfolio, although the exact quantum of the hike will vary depending on the model and variant.
The carmaker has attributed the upcoming price increase to a combination of rising input and commodity costs, higher operational expenses and continuing geopolitical and macroeconomic uncertainties.
What’s the damage?
Hyundai has not yet revealed the revised prices of individual models. The company has only confirmed that the increase will be capped at 1%, with different models and variants likely to see different levels of price revisions.
This means that buyers planning to purchase a Hyundai car before the price hike could potentially save some money by completing the purchase in August, depending on the model and variant they are considering.
Hyundai currently has a fairly broad passenger vehicle portfolio in India, ranging from the Grand i10 Nios and i20 to SUVs such as the Venue, Creta, Alcazar and Tucson, along with electric models including the Creta Electric and Ioniq 5.
The company has not specified whether every model will receive the same percentage increase.
Rising costs behind the move
According to Hyundai, the price revision has been necessitated by persistent cost pressures. The company says it has been making efforts to optimise costs and absorb rising expenses in order to limit the impact on customers. However, with input and commodity costs continuing to rise, Hyundai says it now needs to pass on part of the additional costs through the marginal price revision.
The company has also cited broader geopolitical and macroeconomic uncertainties as factors behind the decision.
A 1% increase may appear relatively small, but the actual impact will depend on the vehicle being purchased. On a higher-priced SUV, even a relatively small percentage increase can translate into a sizeable amount of money.
