BMW F 450 GS launched in India at Rs 4.70 lakh

Key highlights

  • The BMW F 450 GS launched at a starting price of Rs 4.70 lakh ex-showroom
  • Will be available in three variants
  • Powered by a new 420cc paralle-twin motor developed in collaboration with TVS

After waiting for over a year since its concept was unveiled, the BMW F 450 GS has finally been launched in India. Bookings are already open across dealerships, and deliveries will kick off from June 2026. The new adventure motorcycle will be produced locally at TVS’ Hosur plant.

Built like a proper GS, just more accessible

The F 450 GS sticks to the classic GS playbook. You get the signature beak, a slim tail, and that distinctive ‘X’ LED headlight up front.  The proportions feel tight and compact, but the stance still screams adventure. The 845mm seat height (standard) and narrow mid-section should make it approachable for a wider range of riders, especially those stepping up from smaller machines. BMW offers it in multiple trims, including the flashy GS Trophy scheme in Racing Blue with red and white accents.

New engine

At the heart of the bike sits a new 420cc, twin-cylinder engine. It makes 48hp and 43Nm. That puts it right at the sweet spot for both touring and off-road fun. BMW has gone with a 135-degree crankshaft offset, which gives the bike a unique character. Expect a smoother ride with a slightly offbeat exhaust note.

The 6-speed gearbox comes paired with Shift Assistant Pro. So yes, clutchless upshifts and downshifts are part of the deal. But the real talking point is the Easy Ride Clutch. It handles low-speed riding without stalling. Combine that with the quickshifter, and you get a near clutch-free riding experience in traffic.

Ready for road, trail, and everything in between

The F 450 GS gets USD forks up front and a monoshock at the rear with adjustable preload and rebound damping. The setup aims to balance comfort and off-road ability. Braking duties come from a 310mm front disc with a Brembo caliper and a 240mm rear disc. The bike runs on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, which is a proper ADV setup.

Riding modes include Rain, Road, Enduro, and Enduro Pro. The last one lets you loosen the electronics for serious off-road riding. You can even switch off rear ABS and tweak traction control.

Tech-loaded

BMW has packed this bike with features. You get a 6.5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity and a multi-controller. It shows everything from lean angles to braking data. There’s also a USB-C charging port, heated grips, and adjustable levers.

On the safety front, it comes with ABS Pro, Dynamic Traction Control, Engine Drag Torque Control, and Dynamic Brake Control. In simple terms, it has your back when things get messy.

Pricing and variants

  • Base: Rs 4.70 lakh
  • Exclusive: Rs 4.90 lakh
  • GS Trophy: Rs 5.30 lakh

BMW is also offering finance plans starting from under Rs 10,000 per month, along with service packages and extended warranty options.

Our thoughts

At this price, it lands right in the middle of a very competitive segment. But let’s be honest, that GS badge still carries serious weight. If you’ve always wanted one but found the bigger bikes intimidating or expensive, this might just be your entry ticket.
