- Royal Enfield rolls out a free upgrade for 350cc bikes
- Customers can get the gear position indicator installed for free
- All bikes manufactured after August 2025 eligible for the upgrade
In a recent move, Chennai-based cult motorcycle manufacturer Royal Enfield has announced that all its 350cc motorcycle owners who purchased the motorcycles after August 2025 can now upgrade their respective bikes with a gear position indicator. This upgrade is completely free of cost, and the respective customers can reach out to their nearest Royal Enfield service centre for this update.
Why is Royal Enfield offering free gear position indicator?
Last year, the semiconductor shortage caught up with a lot of manufacturers. To not pile up the orders and keep the stock flow, a few manufacturers started removing features that were based on the chip shortage. One such manufacturer was Royal Enfield, which removed the gear position indicator temporarily from its 350cc models, including the Classic 350, Meteor 350, Hunter 350, and Classic Goan 350.
However, the brand had earlier promised that once the material shortage is overcome, it would offer the gear position indicator again. Now, the brand has announced that all 350cc bike owners can reach out to their nearest Royal Enfield dealership to get this feature for free.
Importance of a gear position indicator
As its name suggests, a gear position indicator is a digital indicator that displays the gear in which the engine is running. This helps the rider to keep track of the exact gear while riding. In real-world riding conditions, a rider can easily forget the track of the gear in which the bike is running. Hence, the gear position indicator comes in handy. Moreover, it helps the rider understand how to keep the bike in the correct gear for the optimal riding experience.
