Kia has taken the cover off its upcoming Syros EV ahead of its official launch. The new compact electric crossover has been unveiled digitally, and its battery specs are also out.
Kia Syros EV: Everything to know
The Syros EV continues to be based on the same design language as the ICE sibling. It gets Kia’s Digital Tiger Face, new dual-tone aerodynamic alloy wheels, redesigned bumpers, Star Map LED lighting, black body cladding, roof rails, and new exterior colours. Dimensionally, the Syros EV is going to be more or less the same as its ICE version.
On the inside, the Syros EV features a comfortable and premium cabin layout. The dashboard features the triple-connected screen called Trinity Display, which essentially connects the digital driver cockpit to the infotainment screen, while the AC controls are positioned in between.
It features reclining rear seats, ventilated front seats with electric adjustment, an electronic parking brake, drive modes, regen braking modes, one-pedal drive, etc. Kia has also equipped it with the Level 2 ADAS safety suite that gets up to 16 new autonomous safety assist features.
Kia will offer the Syros EV with two battery pack options as follows:
- 42 kWh: 135 bhp and 255 Nm, 443 km IDC-claimed range, front-wheel drive
- 51.4 kWh: 170 bhp and 255 Nm, 526 km IDC-claimed range, front-wheel drive
In terms of charging, the Syros EV supports up to 100 kW DC charging. It can be charged 10-80 per cent in 39 minutes by using the DC charging support. Meanwhile, customers will get an AC wall home charger of 11 kW.
The pre-bookings of the Syros EV are not open nationwide. Kia is expected to launch the Syros EV prices in the next few days. It will rival the Tata Nexon EV and MG Windsor EV upon launch.
