Nissan has begun exporting the Tekton SUV from India. The made-in-India Tekton is now being exported to South Africa, Nepal, and Bhutan car markets. The export began on September 1, 2026, and the first batch of the exported models included 1,300 units in total.
Ever since Nissan launched the Tekton in India, the brand has witnessed a sudden surge in sales. Nissan India recorded 3,246 units sold in the domestic market in August 2026. This figure is a 147 percent YoY rise compared to the 1,384 units sold in August 2025.
The Tekton is a mid-size SUV that is based on the new-generation Renault Duster. It shares the same underpinnings as the Duster and also comes equipped with the same engine options. The Tekton features a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine and a 1.3-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine. The latter is the most powerful in the segment, as it makes 163 bhp and 280 Nm.
Ironically, the Tekton does not get an all-wheel-drive system. Moreover, due to market competition, Nissan does not get the advantage of Renault’s 1.8-litre strong hybrid petrol engine, which is slated to debut in India later this year. This engine also gets all-wheel-drive technology in the global market.
The Tekton SUV is packed with a redesigned fascia, new LED lights, new colour palettes, and redesigned alloy wheels as compared to the Renault Duster. The Tekton offers a sleeker profile with a sophisticated outlook. On the inside, it features a similar layout as the Duster, but to differentiate, it gets a new dual-tone theme, Nissan badging, and soft-touch materials.
Nissan proudly calls it ‘Baby Patrol’, as its design highlights take inspiration from the brand’s flagship SUV, the Patrol Y63.
