Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the first production car in India with E85-compatibility. In fact, the new Wagon R Flex Fuel can run on E100 fuel. Know every detail about it below.

Maruti has taken the cover off its first-ever production-spec flex fuel car, which is a Wagon R. The Wagon R Flex Fuel was showcased during the World Environment Day event in Delhi. The car was showcased in the presence of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, who holds the baton of flex fuel revolution in India.
Speaking of the Wagon R Flex Fuel, it is powered by Suzuki’s 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated, K12N engine. To make it compatible with E20-E85 ethanol-blended fuel, Suzuki has changed its complete fuel system, including the headers, injectors, fuel lines, fuel tank, ECU remap, and installed an ethanol sensor to detect the percentage of ethanol in fuel.
While the Indian government plans to move ahead with more ethanol blending in petrol, Suzuki’s new flex fuel car will prove to be a game-changer. However, the Wagon R Flex Fuel has been made for commercial use, and a private registration flex fuel car will be introduced in the near future.
Suzuki engineers have not only made it E85-compatible, but it can also run on complete ethanol, or E100 fuel. However, the certification stands only for E20-E85.
