What to expect from the Triumph Bonneville 400?

Triumph’s next big bet is on the Bonneville nameplate. The British motorcycle manufacturer is now developing a 350cc Bonneville, which is most probably going to be badged Bonneville 400.

The first-ever prototype model was recently spotted in India, and now the second set of spy shots has landed from Maharashtra, possibly from Pune, where it will be developed and manufactured by Bajaj. The spied test mule looks a bit different from the previous spy shots.

First, it is going to be a retro motorcycle. Hence, it gets a design similar to the bigger Bonneville models. In fact, the swingarm design and chassis also appear to be derived from the bigger Bonneville models.

Moreover, the sculpted fuel tank has an offset fuel filler cap, while it gets basic hardware like telescopic front suspension, dual shock absorbers at the rear, spoke rims with tube tyres, and a new exhaust design.

Powering the Bonneville 400 is going to be the newly introduced 349.13cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. This powertrain is suspected to produce around 35-36 bhp and 32-33 Nm of power and torque. It will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch.

In terms of features, we suspect it will get a fully digital console with Bluetooth connectivity and ride modes. Additionally, Triumph could introduce the Bonneville 400 in multiple variants.

The estimated launch timeline of the Bonneville 400 is by Diwali 2026. It will be priced around Rs 2 lakh, and its main competitors will include the Royal Enfield Classic 350.
