Kawasaki has launched the updated 2027 Vulcan S middleweight cruiser motorcycle in India with mild changes. The updated model now features a new Metallic Carbon Gray colour with Bluish Green highlights.
Additionally, the 649cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine now develops 62.4 Nm of peak torque. This is an increase of 1.4 Nm over the previous model that made 61 Nm. Meanwhile, the peak power output remains unchanged, i.e. 61 bhp. This engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and gets a slipper-assist clutch as standard.
However, a downgrade that the new model brings with it is the smaller brakes. The front disc brake has been reduced to 272 mm from 300 mm on the previous model, while the rear disc brake now measures 216 mm, as opposed to 250 mm on the previous model. Although Kawasaki still offers the dual-channel ABS as standard, the smaller brake size is likely to increase the stopping distance on the new Vulcan S.
Apart from these updates, the new Vulcan S is similar to the previous model. It is suspended over 41 mm telescopic forks at the front that get 130 mm of travel, while the rear gets a linkage-type monoshock suspension with 80 mm of travel and preload adjustment. The 2027 Vulcan S weighs 235 kg, which positions it against the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650. It has a seat height of 705 mm and 130 mm of ground clearance.
In terms of the features, the Vulcan S gets LED lights, a fully digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity offering SMS and call alerts, Kawasaki traction control modes, and a switchable rear ABS. Kawasaki has commenced pre-bookings of the 2027 Vulcan S, and deliveries are expected to commence shortly.
