The Dacia Duster has worn many hats, but now it’s trying on a tailgate. The Romanian SUV has been transformed into a lifestyle pickup, courtesy of conversion specialist Romturingia. Unlike earlier single-cab experiments, this one keeps four seats intact, so you get an SUV cabin up front and a compact bed at the back. Practical? Depends on what you’re hauling. Fun? Absolutely.
The bed is only 1,050 mm long and 1,000 mm wide, with a payload of 430 kg. You won’t be moving house with it, but camping kits, tools, etc. Sorted. A flat bulkhead splits the cabin from the load area, while plastic lining, metal rails, and anchor points add some real-world usability.
Engines, trims, and the usual Duster honesty
Power comes from two electrified setups: a Mild-Hybrid 130 with AWD and a Hybrid 140 with FWD. The AWD version adds off-road drive modes to keep the Duster’s mountain-goat reputation alive. Buyers can pick between Expression, Extreme, and Journey trims, all mirroring the SUV’s kit list.
Inside, it’s the same Duster story, no-nonsense design, space for four, and a central armrest for rear passengers. Simple, practical, and refreshingly free of gimmicks.
Price and availability
The Duster Pick-Up kicks off at €25,983 in Romania, before taxes. Global availability hasn’t been confirmed, but with Dacia’s cult following in Europe, the idea of this quirky SUV-truck hybrid spreading further doesn’t sound far-fetched.
Our thoughts
This is Dacia at its best taking a car people already love and giving it a twist nobody asked for but everyone secretly wanted. It’s not a Hilux rival, and it doesn’t pretend to be. It’s a lifestyle tool, a weekend toy, and a practical runabout rolled into one boxy package.
