TVS Motor Company has officially unveiled the Apache RTX, marking its debut in the adventure rally tourer segment. Priced at an introductory INR 1.99 lakh (ex-showroom), this all-new motorcycle is built on TVS’s RT-XD4 platform. This is a brand-new base designed to blend race-derived performance with real-world touring comfort.

Launched in the scenic mountains of Theog, Himachal Pradesh, with the RTX TVS redefining its own identity.

Engineered for the wild

Powering the RTX is a 299.1 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled DOHC engine producing 36 PS at 9,000 rpm and 28.5 Nm at 7,000 rpm. It comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox with an assist and slipper clutch, complemented by a ride-by-wire throttle for crisp control.

Dual cooling jackets and a dual oil-pump setup ensure the engine runs strong even under punishing conditions which is a clear reflection of TVS’s rally experience. I

Tech loaded

The Apache RTX is loaded with features that make it feel way ahead of its price tag. Riders get four ride modes namely, Urban, Rain, Tour, and Rally, each adjusting throttle response, ABS, and traction control. There’s also a bi-directional quickshifter for clutchless shifts and cruise control for effortless highway rides.

The 5-inch TFT display supports Bluetooth connectivity, map mirroring, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). It’s crisp, colourful, and clearly designed for all-day visibility.

Other key highlights include:

  • Class-D headlamp with DRLs and welcome animation
  • Adjustable levers, bash plate, knuckle guards, and USB charger
  • Modular luggage mounts with optional GIVI panniers and top box
  • Raised front fender and touring-friendly ergonomics

Suspension, handling, and ergonomics

Under the skin, the RTX uses a steel trellis frame with WP long-travel suspension, inverted cartridge forks up front and a mono-tube floating piston setup at the rear. The setup promises composure both on-road and off it.

The seat height is manageable, and the riding triangle feels like it will be comfortable for long hours yet agile enough for off-road standing posture. TVS has clearly paid attention to rider comfort and control, ensuring the RTX feels planted and confident no matter where it goes.
