Kia has officially confirmed that the EV2 production-spec will be unveiled on 9 January 2026 at the Brussels Motor Show. The EV2 will slot beneath the brand’s EV3, making it the smallest model in Kia’s “born-electric” lineup.
What we know
Design teased by the manufacturer stays faithful to the earlier EV2 Concept, the SUV carries upright proportions, a flat roofline, and strong, box-like styling that maximises interior space. Up front, teasers show vertically stacked LED light units on either side, framed by bold cladding and a prominent skid plate that give the EV2 a rugged, street-SUV vibe. At the rear, low-mounted LED tail-lights, a roof spoiler and a sharply raked rear glass complete the urban-SUV look.
Inside, Kia is expected to focus on practicality and modularity. The concept preview had sliding bench-style rear seats and a flat floor for flexible space usage, ideal for city driving, shopping runs or weekend escapes. That said, it remains to be seen how many of those features make it to the final production car.
Under the skin, the EV2 is expected to use the 400-volt architecture that underpins Kia’s earlier EVs such as the EV3, offering a simpler electric drivetrain that helps keep costs low. Battery configurations are rumoured to range between ~40 kWh and ~50 kWh. That could help the car deliver a real-world range suitable for city and suburban use. I
What we’re still waiting on
Kia hasn’t yet confirmed exact specifications such as official battery size options, claimed range, charging speed, or cabin specifications for the production version. The flexibility of the concept’s interior, sliding seats, bench layout, flat floor may be toned down for safety and certification compliance.
Similarly, while teaser images show the rugged styling, we’ll have to wait until 9 January to see if Kia retains the chunky cladding, ground clearance, and EV-friendly proportions in the final car.
