Honda’s latest event in India was a massive success for the brand as it revealed 10 new two-wheelers bound for the Indian market. One of these models was the Rebel 300 low-slung cruiser motorcycle, which has been confirmed for launch in the near future.
Honda Rebel 300: Everything to know about it
The Rebel 300 was showcased in India with Honda’s trademark E-Clutch assistant feature. Although the E-Clutch would be offered as an option, the new Rebel 300 will become the first motorcycle in the segment to offer this feature once launched.
The Rebel 300 is a global product. It features a low-slung design with neo-retro elements like a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, oval LED headlight, front-set handlebar, bar-end mirrors, a scooped seat, and classic-looking multi-spoke alloy wheels. Honda offers the Rebel 300 with features like a digital negative LCD instrument console, Bluetooth connectivity offering navigation, SMS and call alerts, music controls, etc.
Powering the Rebel 300 is a 286cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. This powertrain makes 27 bhp and 26.6 Nm of power and torque, and it is paired with a 6-speed transmission, along with a slipper clutch. The performance, as reported by users online, is satisfying and linear, which justifies its cruiser traits.
The Rebel 300 is suspended over telescopic front forks and dual shock absorbers at the rear. It comes equipped with a dual-channel ABS and Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC). Moreover, the bike comes with disc brakes on both ends.
The Rebel 300 will have a tough time fighting against the segment leader, the Royal Enfield Meteor 350. The latter has a solid fanbase across the globe, and especially in India, and its J-series engine is also reported as one of the best that Royal Enfield has ever produced. Additionally, the pricing will matter a lot, as the Honda Rebel 300 is expected to be positioned somewhere between Rs 2.50 lakh and Rs 2.75 lakh (ex-showroom), which will be a downer for buyers as the Meteor 350 is available at a lower price.
More details about the Rebel 300 will be unveiled in the near future. We expect Honda will launch it by the end of this year in India.
