The KTM 390 Duke has become more expensive in India yet again. KTM has revised the prices of both versions of the motorcycle, with the hike going up to Rs 7,000.
The standard 390 Duke, which is now the 350cc version, is priced at Rs 2.84 lakh, while the more powerful 399cc model, sold as the 390 Duke R, costs Rs 3.45 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom.
Two Dukes, two different engines
The naming of the 390 Duke range has become slightly confusing after KTM introduced the smaller engine earlier this year.
The standard bike now uses a 350 cc single-cylinder engine. It produces 40.9 bhp and 33.5 Nm. The 390 Duke R, meanwhile, retains the 399 cc engine, producing 45.3 bhp and 39 Nm.
The difference isn’t just something you will notice on a specification sheet. The larger engine gives the 390 Duke R an advantage in acceleration and outright performance, while the smaller engine helps the standard Duke sit in a lower tax bracket.
Both motorcycles weigh 168.3kg, get a 15-litre fuel tank and have an 800mm seat height. They also share the same 17-inch alloy wheels, WP fully adjustable USD front forks and rear monoshock.
Still loaded with electronics
KTM hasn’t stripped the standard bike of its electronic toys either. Both versions get a 5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity, along with Rain, Street and Track ride modes. There is also a bi-directional quickshifter, cornering ABS, lean-sensitive traction control, launch control and cruise control.
Braking hardware includes disc brakes at both ends, with dual-channel ABS and the option to switch off the rear ABS.
The latest hike makes the price gap between the two Dukes more noticeable. The standard 350 cc model remains the more accessible option, while the 390 Duke R is aimed at riders who want the full-fat KTM experience.
