Bajaj Auto has strengthened its popular Pulsar lineup with the launch of the all-new Pulsar N160 S and Pulsar N160 SS.
Introduced as part of the brand’s 25th anniversary celebrations, the two motorcycles bring more performance, smarter electronics and a longer feature list to the highly competitive 160cc segment. Prices start at Rs 1,33,511 for the N160 S and Rs 1,42,585 for the range-topping N160 SS (both ex-showroom, Delhi).
What is new?
The biggest update lies under the fuel tank. Both motorcycles get a new 165 cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled, four-valve engine that develops 18.5 PS at 9,500rpm and 14.4 Nm at 8,000rpm, paired with a five-speed gearbox. Bajaj claims the new motor can sprint from 0-60kph in just 4.5 seconds, making it the quickest motorcycle in its class.
Another major addition is Electronic Throttle Body (ETB). Besides delivering smoother throttle response, it enables four ride modes – Road, Rain, Sport and Off-road. The system also supports Crawl Technology, allowing the bike to move at low speeds in higher gears without constant clutch inputs, making city traffic less tiring.
Suspension duties are handled by 37mm USD forks and a rear monoshock, while braking comes via a 300mm front disc and 230 mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch alloy wheels, has a 795 mm seat height, 165mm ground clearance, a 14-litre fuel tank and tips the scales at 151 kg.
Whats is different with the N160 SS?
The Pulsar N160 SS packs a few extra tricks. It gets traction control, a 5-inch TFT instrument cluster with Google Maps mirroring, claimed to be a first for a sports motorcycle in India and refreshed styling with coloured alloy wheels, revised ergonomics and three new paint options: Atlantic Blue, Pearl Metallic White and Brooklyn Black.
The existing Pulsar N160 will continue to remain on sale, giving buyers three distinct options within the N160 family.
