Studds launches limited-edition Nardo Grey helmet range with just 1,947 units

Key highlights

  • Studds introduces Nardo Grey edition across seven helmet models
  • Only 1,947 units will be sold, inspired by India’s 1947 Independence
  • Range includes full-face, modular, flip-up and open-face helmets

Studds has launched a limited-edition Nardo Grey series, with only 1,947 helmets being produced across seven models.

The number is deliberate. It is a nod to 1947, the year India gained independence, with the launch timed around the country’s 80th Independence Day. The helmets are available in both gloss and matt finishes.

Why Nardo Grey?

Nardo Grey takes its name from the Nardo Ring, a high-speed testing circuit in southern Italy. The shade became particularly associated with performance cars after appearing on the Audi R8.

Studds says the restrained look of Nardo Grey is also finding favour among Indian riders who are moving away from loud graphics and towards cleaner helmet designs.

Studds has linked the grey shade to India’s defence forces, pointing to the grey used on Su-30 MKI fighter jets, naval warships and Army camouflage. The company has therefore positioned the series under the theme ‘The Colour of Honour’.

Seven helmet models

The limited-edition range covers seven different helmet models. The Helios is a premium full-face helmet aimed at highway riders, while the Trooper gets a modular design with a dual-visor setup.

The Ninja Elite Super is a flip-up helmet designed for mixed city and highway use. The Drifter is a street-focused full-face helmet with dynamic ventilation.

For everyday riders, there is the lightweight Raider Super, while the Vogue and Ray Super are open-face options aimed at urban use.

Safety remains unchanged

All seven helmet models comply with Indian ISI/BIS safety standards, while two models also carry DOT certification. The range features high-impact thermoplastic shells, regulated-density EPS liners, UV-resistant lacquer, breathable comfort padding and quick-release micrometric chin straps.

The 1,947 helmets have already been distributed to authorised Studds dealers across India and will be available at retail outlets shortly. The company says they will also be sold through its online store.
