Hyundai has revealed the technical details of the upcoming Tucson in South Korea recently. This will be the fifth-gen Tucson in the international market, and Hyundai has made sure that it grows bigger in size and offers more tech and efficiency than ever before.
2027 Hyundai Tucson: Technical specifications
The upcoming Tucson will be offered with two petrol engine options in South Korea when it goes on sale next month. These engine options will be as follows:
- 1.6-litre TGDI turbocharged petrol engine, four-cylinder, 193 bhp and 265 Nm, 8-speed automatic gearbox, 13 bhp more power than the previous version
- 1.6-litre turbocharged hybrid engine, 242 bhp (10 bhp more than before), 17.4 km/l claimed mileage, gets ‘Inertial Driving Guidance’ that improves mileage
With these engine options, Hyundai has also re-engineered the chassis, which is now longer by 60 mm, wider by 40 mm, and offers a 30 mm longer wheelbase. Not only that, but the rear doors now open 10 degrees wider, while the rear headroom has been increased by 29 mm for more space and comfort.
Hyundai did not stop here, and the engineers went forward with a new suspension setup that features new mounting points, a new suspension valve, and tuning for better handling and enhanced ride comfort. Hyundai also added active aero flaps at the front, while the rear gets a spoiler, which cumulatively increases the efficiency of the new SUV. Additionally, the new Tucson gets revised engine mounting points, thicker glass, and improved sound insulation for a quieter cabin experience.
New design, interior, features
The exterior design of the new-gen Tucson is based on the brand’s latest ‘Art of Steel’ design language. The SUV now packs sharp body lines, a boxier overall silhouette, and sleek connected LED lights, with new elements like the 17-inch dual-tone alloys and rugged body cladding on the XRT variant.
Step inside, and you will be welcomed by an all-new interior design that features a new three-spoke steering wheel with Hyundai lettering in Morse Code, a new central Pleos Connect infotainment screen that monitors and controls every feature of the car via an in-built Gleo AI, a slim driver instrument screen, an augmented reality head-up display, and soft-touch leather upholstery all over.
Hyundai has also equipped the new Tucson with a memory-based reverse assist feature that remembers how you parked in a tight space. This feature then uses the car’s intelligent system and auto-reverses the car from tight spaces. There is also a new ‘Ground View’, which is essentially an underbody AI view. South Korean customers will be able to choose from three dual-tone interior themes: Mud Grey & Dove Grey, Black & Sand Beige, and Black & Inlay Soil Brown.
It now gets improved Level 2+ ADAS safety features, 9 airbags, wireless phone charging with ventilation, front seats with electric adjustment and memory function, Boss Mode, panoramic sunroof, cabin LED mood lighting, electric boot, a dual-zone AC, and more.
Hyundai has not revealed whether the new Tucson will be launched in India or not. However, it will go on sale in South Korea next month, followed by other markets in the coming months.
