Ducati has unveiled the 2027 DesertX Rally at EICMA 2026, bringing a major mechanical and chassis update to its most off-road-focused adventure motorcycle. The new model moves to Ducati’s latest 890cc V2 engine platform and gets a revised aluminium monocoque frame, upgraded suspension and tubeless spoked wheels.
Powertrain
The biggest change is the move to Ducati’s 890 cc, 90-degree V2 engine. It produces 110.3 hp at 9,000 rpm and 92 Nm at 7,000 rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox, Ducati Quick Shift 2.0 and a slipper clutch.
Ducati says the new V2 is the lightest twin-cylinder engine it has produced in this class. Its torque delivery has been tuned to offer strong low- and mid-range response, which should be particularly useful when riding on loose surfaces and technical trails.
Rally-spec suspension and off-road hardware
The suspension package is a major highlight. The DesertX Rally gets a fully adjustable 48mm KYB closed-cartridge upside-down fork with Kashima coating and DLC-treated stanchions. It offers 250 mm of travel at the front, while the fully adjustable rear shock provides 240 mm of travel through a new Full Floater linkage system.
An adjustable Ohlins steering damper is also part of the package. Ducati says the revised rear suspension improves comfort, traction and control over rough terrain.
The motorcycle rides on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear Takasago Excel tubeless spoked wheels. The rear wheel uses a 36-spoke configuration for added strength. Braking is handled by twin 305mm front discs with Brembo four-piston callipers and a 265mm rear disc, supported by cornering ABS.
Dedicated Rally and Enduro riding modes
The DesertX Rally retains Ducati’s electronic rider aids, including traction control, wheelie control, engine brake control and cruise control. The riding mode selection now includes two additional off-road settings, Enduro and Rally, alongside the existing Touring, Urban, Sport and Wet modes.
A 5-inch colour TFT instrument console handles the display functions. The motorcycle also gets a new Rally-specific colour scheme, with white, black and red graphics.
Ducati has not announced pricing yet. The updated DesertX Rally is scheduled to go on sale in global markets in 2027. An India launch timeline is yet to be confirmed.
