2027 KTM 390 Adventure range updated at EICMA 2026

Key highlights

  • The 2027 KTM 390 Adventure R gets revised left-hand switchgear, making cruise control an optional feature instead of standard equipment.
  • The 390 Adventure X will receive two new colour options and an updated equipment package.
  • No mechanical changes have been announced, and India-specific updates are yet to be confirmed.

KTM has showcased updates to its 390 Adventure range at EICMA 2026, with changes focused primarily on equipment and usability. The biggest talking point is the 390 Adventure R, which will no longer get cruise control as standard on the 2027 model. Instead, the feature can be activated as an optional add-on through revised handlebar switchgear.

The 390 Adventure X is also in line for an update, receiving two new colour options and changes to its equipment package. However, KTM has not announced any major mechanical revisions to either motorcycle.

Optional cruise control

The 390 Adventure R is the most off-road-focused motorcycle in the 390 Adventure family. For 2027, it gets an updated left-hand switch cube that allows riders to activate cruise control as an optional extra. This is a change from the current international-spec motorcycle, where the feature is offered as standard.

The rest of the package remains familiar. Power comes from a 398.7 cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 45 PS and 39 Nm, paired with a six-speed gearbox and a slip-and-assist clutch.

The R continues with fully adjustable WP Apex suspension offering 230mm of travel at both ends. Its 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheels, tube-type tyres and six-axis IMU-based electronics package underline its serious off-road intent. Other features include lean-sensitive traction control, cornering ABS, off-road ABS and a bi-directional Quickshifter+.

KTM 390 Adventure X gets new colours

The 390 Adventure X will also receive a 2027 model-year update. KTM has announced two additional colour options for the motorcycle, along with an updated equipment package. The existing TFT instrument display will continue to be offered.

The updated Adventure X is expected to join KTM’s international line-up after EICMA, around December 2026. However, the manufacturer has not detailed all the equipment changes yet.

KTM has not confirmed whether the changes will be carried over to the India-spec motorcycles. This is particularly relevant for the Adventure R, which is already sold here with its international-spec engine and off-road hardware.
