Confirmed: All Bajaj motorcycles are E20 compatible for past 10 years

Key highlights

  • All Bajaj, Triumph, and KTM bikes are E20-compatible
  • Motorcycles have been E20-compliant for the past 10 years
  • Bajaj confirms the drop in fuel economy

While the Indian automotive sector is going through a state of confusion due to the E20 fuel, manufacturers are coming up front and clarifying the air of confusion around their products. A new addition to this list is Bajaj Auto Ltd, which has confirmed that all of its motorcycles manufactured in the past decade are E20-compliant.

As per Bajaj, it has been manufacturing E20-compatible motorcycles for the last 10 years. The brand says that this has been possible due to its competent R&D teams, which have been able to design two-wheelers that are not only E20-compatible, but also E27-compatible for the global markets like Brazil.

Adding to the clarification, Bajaj’s Central Marketing President, Sumeet Narang, also revealed that not only are popular bikes like Pulsar, Avenger, etc, E20-compatible, but brands like Triumph and KTM have also been E20-compatible for the past decade. This holds true for Triumph 400 bikes, which were introduced in mid-2023, after the official rollout of the E20 petrol in April 2023.

However, Sumeet Narang also clarified that a noticeable drop in fuel efficiency is likely to surface with the E20 fuel. While the motorcycles do not require any updates to their fuel systems like the fuel pumps, injectors, etc, the E20 fuel can drop the mileage more than before. The brand also clarified that the factors affecting the fuel economy, like low tyre pressure, poor maintenance, etc, are likely to affect the mileage substantially with the E20 petrol.

Bajaj is one of the top two-wheeler brands in Brazil. The Latin American country was one of the first countries to introduce flex-fuel, and all Bajaj motorcycles sold in Brazil are E27-compliant, which makes the Indian-spec models easy to run on the E20 petrol.
