Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has unveiled the CB500 as part of its massive new product offensive in India. The motorcycle will join the company’s growing roadster lineup and is expected to be launched in the country soon.
The CB500 is one of 10 motorcycles and scooters unveiled by Honda as part of its latest India portfolio expansion. While the company has not revealed an exact launch date or price yet, it says the new products will be introduced in a phased manner.
A new 500cc Honda roadster
Honda is positioning the CB500 as a heritage roadster, combining retro-inspired styling with modern technology and everyday usability.
The motorcycle is powered by a 501cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine with an oil cooler. Honda says the engine is tuned to deliver a torque-rich riding experience, which should make the CB500 suitable for both city riding and longer weekend rides. The engine produces close to 28 PS of power and 43.3 Nm of peak torque.
The CB500 will be available in three variants:
- Alloy
- Spoke tubeless
- Spoke tubeless with graphics
Honda is going big on motorcycles
The CB500 is part of a much wider product offensive from Honda in India. The company has unveiled seven all-new models and three refreshed products, spanning roadsters, cruisers, adventure motorcycles, scooters, electric mobility and flex-fuel technology.
The other new motorcycles include the Rebel 300, Rebel 500, XR 300L and XR 300 Rally, while the CB350, CB350C and CB350RS will receive new colour options. Honda has also unveiled the ADV 160, QC3 electric scooter and the flex-fuel capable Xtreme 250R.
The company has also confirmed that select upcoming models will be available with Honda’s E-Clutch technology, although the press release does not specify whether the CB500 will receive the system.
