Hyundai Motor India has revealed the first design sketches of the upcoming Hyundai Bayon, giving us the first official look at its exterior and interior design. The Bayon is being positioned as an Intelligent Utility Vehicle aimed primarily at modern urban customers.
What do the sketches reveal?
The sketches show a more pronounced SUV character, with Hyundai’s latest Art of Steel design philosophy shaping the overall appearance. The front gets a sculpted bonnet, prominent fender volumes and sharp character lines. The standout element is the new H-Edge lighting signature, which gives the Bayon a distinctive visual identity.
Hyundai says the design combines architectural forms with muscular proportions to create a youthful and robust appearance. The lower body elements further reinforce its SUV stance, although the company has not revealed detailed dimensions or specifications at this stage.
The interior sketch provides a first glimpse of the cabin. Hyundai describes it as an intelligently designed space focused on technology, connectivity and intuitive interaction. The company is targeting a premium and engaging experience for what it describes as tech-savvy customers.
Interestingly, Hyundai is pitching the Bayon specifically around urban usability. The idea is to offer the confidence and visual presence associated with an SUV while keeping the vehicle suited to customers who spend most of their time navigating city environments.
The Bayon is being developed as a global product, but Hyundai has not yet revealed its powertrain options, dimensions, feature list or launch timeline in this announcement. The design sketches therefore provide an early preview rather than a complete picture of the upcoming SUV.
The Hyundai Bayon will go up against the Tata Curvv and the Maruti Suzuki Victoris once it makes its debut. It will be positioned between the Venue and the Creta in the Hyundai line-up. This would allow Hyundai India to price the car strategically.
